‘American Bull’ to vie in Germany

Iranian short film ‘American Bull’ has been set to attend the 2019 Oberhausen International Short Film Festival in Germany.

Directed, produced and written by Fatemeh Tousi, the film will compete at the Children’s and Youth Film Competition section of the 65th edition of the German film event.

The 14-minute short recounts the story of a young boy who owns a bull and has a special bond with his animal. The boy depends on his bull for earning a living. In fact, the bull is being rented for mating and procreation.

Ali-Akbar Sharhanzadeh is the sole cast member of ‘American Bull’ which has been produced in collaboration with Iranian Youth Cinema Society.

Should Tousi’s film win the Best short award of the festival, it will be automatically qualified to attend the Oscars Academy Awards.

The latest edition of Oberhausen International Short Film Festival is slated for May 1-6, 2019.
